I-88 Bridge

American Hydro was subcontracted to perform concrete hydrodemolition on the I-88 Bridge in New York. The 29,000 square feet of concrete removed at an average depth of 3 inches was a fairly typical job for the American Hydro team. Despite the high-strength 8,000 psi concrete, the flat robot was able to achieve a competitive cut rate performance to keep the project running smoothly and ahead of schedule. Unique to this project was the water treatment and discharge requirements typically not required on such exterior bridge projects. Using a system designed and operated by American Hydro, the water treatment system successfully treated all discharge water from the hydrodemolition process. Despite strict PH and suspended solid requirements, the discharge water remained within the required specifications for the duration of the project.
